Our websites help you to grow fast by converting more visitors to customers, increasing sales, and making more money. We work with our clients in two ways: either by creating brand new websites, or by improving existing sites so they work, convert or perform better.

Our founder Rob Dobson has been working in digital and building websites for 20 years. From designing and developing the world’s first internet bank in 1999 (smile.co.uk), he began Northern Comfort in 2010. Now a team of eight, we work with clients all over the world, from Berlin to California, Hong Kong to Warsaw.

You need results, not a website.

Your website will go live at the half-way point of the project. It’s not the end point. We want to help you build your business, so once the site is live, we stay with you to see how real customers are using it. And then we tweak, A/B test and amend anywhere we can to get the best possible conversion rate. We don’t put the website live and run away and you won’t need to chase us for advice. 

Your challenger brand needs growth — any fire needs fuel. Increasing conversions on your website is what we do — but what that brings you is MORE. More customers, more money, more sales. More people on your mailing list, more people who know who you are. More confidence in your products; the ability to expand your range or invest in your team. Optimisation for the head and heart.

All CRO agencies will A/B test alternative UX  based on how people use the site. We all know a streamlined checkout will improve your sales, and we’ll do this too. But unlike other CRO agencies, our optimisation is driven by psychology and data. Which is why we give equal weight to the human factors that affect optimisation — like design, story-telling, copy and photography.

This is because customers decide to buy a product with their heart, not their head. With over 20 years experience, we know that elements of psychology, storytelling and design are just as likely to improve the optimisation of your website. Which is why we’ll advise you to think about A/B testing the packages you offer; or the style of your pages at different times of year; or think about the context in which purchases are made.

These changes and experiments – inspired and informed by the human heart, as well as our experience – are how we make real gains for our clients. Just look at our numbers.

It won’t be 100% right, first time.

If your agency says that your website will be right, first time; or that their expertise is enough to build you a website that’s immediately the best it can be; they’re either arrogant or ignorant. A site can have the very best UX in the world, but customers are not robots and we can never wholly predict their behaviour. Especially for challenger brands, who typically have a different kind of product, offered in a different way, that requires this nuanced approach.

We stay with our clients after their site goes live so we can test it with real customers – with the humility to recognise that what we build can be improved upon. There will always be improvements that face and surmount the specific challenges your business faces. And we can’t wait to get stuck in.
