Thesaurus Linguae Latinae

Work for De Gruyter - to analyse and optimise, as well as deliver new features and function for the Thesaurus Linguae Latinae.

The Thesaurus Linguae Latinae is the worlds first comprehensive dictionary of ancient Latin, compiling all Latin texts surviving from AD 600. The thesaurus is an essential resource for scholars of Latin and various branches of ancient studies, and is accessed by almost all major universities across the world.

As part of our on-going work with De Gruyter, we redesigned and developed the site as it moved to its own domain, drastically decreasing search times and delivering an improved user experience.

Website build with a searchable database and scalable architecture
Website search functionality, scanning over
80,000 entries.
Developing a search engine providing results in milliseconds to improve user engagement
We designed in multi-layered ways to conduct
a search and made these options accessible from every page.

The searchable database is built with scalable architecture, and contains a growing list of over 80,000 entries. We developed a best in class search engine providing results in milliseconds. There are various advanced and multi-layered ways to conduct a search, all quickly accessible from every single page on the site.

The entries on the site provide extensive controls and functions, such as citation exporting, multi-language support and advanced sharing options.

Site design and build which is now used by
almost all major universities worldwide.
Mobile site listing resources for scholars of Latin and various branches of ancient studies
Part of the brief was to drastically decrease search-times .

We continue to work with De Gruyter to analyse and optimise, as well as deliver new features and function for the Thesaurus Linguae Latinae.
